Recipe - Banana nice cream

When summer is on the way and this recipe is sure to be a hit.

Banana ice cream, also called nice cream, is one our favourite healthy ice cream flavours because it’s quick and easy to prepare. With only 1 main ingredient required it's so easy you don't even need an ice cream maker. It's a great alternative to traditional ice cream. If you have frozen bananas and milk on hand then you can whip up this healthy plant-based dessert in no time. Actually, why wait until dessert, eat it straight from the bowl.

How to Freeze Bananas

Before you freeze bananas for nice cream, it’s important that you peel them first (or the peel could be stuck forever), and then slice them into coins. I cut each banana slice about 2cm thick, but it’s not important to be exact.

Cutting the banana into small pieces helps it break down faster when you blend it, giving you a thick & creamy nice cream, without making your food processor work too hard.

Ingredients:

3 Frozen Organic Bananas - peeled and sliced

A dash of Organic Almond Milk (or any milk you prefer)

Method:

  1. Place the frozen banana slices and the almond milk into a high-speed food processor or blender.
  2. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes
  3. If your mix seems a little thick, add a little more almond milk
  4. Once blended, your banana nice cream should be the consistency of "ice cream" or gelato
  5. Eat immediately or freeze in an air tight container to enjoy later

Adding extras to this recipe is also an option. Ideas include: berries, dried fruit, cacao, nuts & seeds, vanilla, maple syrup. The possibilities are endless.
